Subcommittee on National Security, Illicit Finance, and International Financial Institutions

The Subcommittee on National Security, Illicit Finance, and International Financial Institutions of the House Financial Services Committee has jurisdiction over authorization of the multilateral development banks – including the World Bank and its main lending arm, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

If the Executive Branch makes an agreement with a multilateral development bank to provide U.S. taxpayer money, it must be authorized by legislation originating in this subcommittee. If it is stopped here, it is dead.

In addition, this subcommittee may originate legislation to withdraw previously authorizations of spending and/or withdraw from international financial organizations.
